Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Lead Biomedical Engineer – Digital & Integration at John Hunter Hospital to steer the digital health integration for connected medical devices across rural, regional and metropolitan facilities. Hunter New England Clinical Technology is looking for a Lead Biomedical Engineer – Digital & Integration to lead the digital and integration strategy for connected medical devices and health technology assets across one of NSW’s largest health services.

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how medical devices and digital health technologies connect, communicate and support the delivery of healthcare across rural, regional and metropolitan facilities.

As the Lead Biomedical Engineer – Digital & Integration, you will be responsible for the digital and integration strategy for HNE Clinical Technology across the full lifecycle of connected medical devices and health technology assets – from planning and implementation through to decommissioning.

You’ll work at the intersection of clinical technology, digital health, ICT, cybersecurity and clinical practice, helping ensure medical device technology is aligned with broader health technology systems and the needs of clinicians and patients.

About you:
You’ll be someone who can see the bigger picture and understand how medical devices fit within a complex digital healthcare ecosystem.

You will bring:

• Strong biomedical engineering knowledge and experience, with an understanding of connected medical devices and digital health technologies.
• The ability to think strategically and understand the relationship between medical devices, EMR systems, ICT infrastructure, cybersecurity and clinical workflows.
• Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across clinical, technical and executive environments.
• The ability to influence, collaborate and bring diverse stakeholders together around a common objective.
• A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving complex problems.
• Strong analytical, planning and project management skills.

Experience working within a large healthcare environment will be highly regarded, however, knowledge of HNE systems, governance and processes, as well as vendor-specific platforms and solutions, can be developed in the role.

Requirements:

Degree qualifications in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline, acceptable for Membership of Engineers Australia (as a Professional Engineer).

Current NSW Drivers Licence and ability to travel across HNE facilities as required.
