Job summary

UpTrade is seeking a Lead Software Developer to own UpTrade's applications, backend platform, and the cloud they run on. You will build and operate serverless services in Node.js and TypeScript, containerized apps using ECS, frontend & UX features on React, keep financial workflows correct and secure, and deploy, maintain, and update internal tools in secure cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in senior backend/DevOps roles.
• Strong Node.js and TypeScript, with MongoDB production experience.
• Production AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, and SQS/SNS, plus Terraform.

About the role

As Lead Software Developer, you will own UpTrade's various applications, backend platform and the cloud they run on. You will build and operate serverless services in Node.js and TypeScript, containerized apps using ECS, frontend & UX features on React, keep financial workflows correct and secure, and deploy, maintain, and update internal tools in secure cloud environments. You will provision and maintain AWS, Cloudflare, Terraform, and private networking, including open-source self-hosted software where it fits better than a SaaS product. This is a hands-on role, working closely with the founders.

Key responsibilities

Review changes for correctness, performance, and risk.

Deploy, maintain, and update internal software tools in secure cloud environments.

Stand up and look after open-source self-hosted alternatives where they replace a SaaS product.

Provision and maintain AWS, Cloudflare, Terraform, and private networking.

Keep access least-privilege, secrets safe, and systems observable and recoverable.

Apply secure coding and data handling across application code and infrastructure.

Own what you ship, including deployment, monitoring, and production fixes.

About you

6+ years, with recent senior backend / dev ops roles

Strong Node.js and TypeScript, and production experience with MongoDB

Production AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, S3, and SQS or SNS, plus Terraform.

Experience with Cloudflare, private networking, and operating the systems you have built.

Experience deploying and maintaining internal tools, including self-hosted open-source alternatives to SaaS.

Strong cloud and application security. Security engineering experience is highly desirable.

Fintech, trading, or payments experience is an advantage.

Agentic coding is part of how you work.

Real production experience with AWS and serverless systems.

Ability to work autonomously in a small team.
