Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Lead Architect for the Core Modernisation program to oversee governance and alignment of architectural decisions across multiple workstreams. Responsibilities

• Provide architectural governance and alignment across CoreMod to enterprise architecture standards.
• Manage architecture dependencies with PMO and stakeholders; track and escalate where needed.
• Facilitate cross-workstream architecture decisions; present to Architecture for endorsement.
• Maintain and report on technical debt and Day 2 obligations; ensure remediation timelines.

We work directly with IT and Business teams to ensure our technology investments are aligned with the Bank’s strategy and plans.**We are looking for a Lead Architect who will drive:**Architecture Advisory / Enterprise Alignment* Facilitate resolution and escalation of architecture matters requiring enterprise-level consideration by articulating impacts, trade-offs, dependencies, and risk considerations.* Represent CoreMod architecture considerations in enterprise governance and decision-making forums.* Maintain oversight of the target-state architecture and roadmap, ensuring individual initiatives contribute to the intended business, application, data and technology outcomes.Dependency Management* Work closely with CoreMod PMO and other stakeholders to identify, escalate, manage, and resolve architecture dependencies.* Provide visibility of downstream organisational and technology impacts arising from CoreMod program decisions.* Ensure architecture dependencies are documented, tracked, owned, and actively managed through delivery.Architectural Governance* Facilitate review and alignment of architectural decisions and design direction across CoreMod workstreams to maintain a cohesive target-state architecture and minimise duplication, divergence and unintended impacts.* Present architectural decisions and recommendations to the Architecture team for review, endorsement, and governance approval.* Ensure architectural decisions are recorded, communicated, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.Technical Debt and Day 2 Management* Maintain the CoreMod technical debt register, tracking remediation plans, ownership, and delivery timelines.* Manage and maintain the Day 2 backlog, ensuring operational, supportability, and sustainability considerations are captured and prioritised.* Provide regular reporting on technical debt and Day 2 obligations, including risks and outstanding actions, and escalating matters where management attention is required.Certification & Compliance* Ensure architecture artefacts comply with enterprise standards and quality expectations.* Coordinate and track the completion of required architecture artefacts to support design reviews and certification processes.* Facilitate the resolution of feedback and ensure outcomes are achieved within agreed timelines.**Key Skills and Experience*** In-depth knowledge and experience with infrastructure technologies including enterprise networking/compute/storage, and a range of virtualisation technologies* Experience in resolving solution design and architecture contentions with stakeholders.* Excellent Stakeholder Engagement skills and experience* Experience working with integration partners/vendors in large programs of work.* Qualifications relevant to the Bank or IT industry, including TOGAF, and technical/business domain certifications.**Be More**Working for an organisation that truly makes a difference to the people of Australia, we can offer development and career opportunities in a collaborative environment that supports your growth, wellbeing and promotes flexibility.
