Job summary

Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Lead Architect to provide architectural governance and co-ordination for the CoreMod data centre modernisation program. You will ensure decisions, dependencies and technical debt are managed in line with enterprise standards and strategy.

The role requires expertise in infrastructure technologies, strong stakeholder engagement, and experience in large programs with TOGAF qualifications.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technologies including enterprise networking/compute/storage and a range of virtualization technologies.
• Experience resolving solution design/contentions with stakeholders.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working with integration partners/vendors in large programs.
• Qualifications relevant to banking/IT industry, including TOGAF and domain certifications.

Are you ready to be the architectural linchpin that connects strategy, governance and delivery for a major data centre modernisation program that is in the final year of mission critical workload migration? The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is looking to hire a Lead Architect to provide architectural governance and coordination across the Core Modernisation (CoreMod) program, ensuring key decisions, dependencies and technical debt are effectively managed and aligned to enterprise strategy and architecture standards. This role is part of a team that provides IT strategy and architecture services to the Bank. We work directly with IT and Business teams to ensure our technology investments are aligned with the Bank’s strategy and plans. We are looking for a Lead Architect who will drive:

Lead Architect will drive:

• Architecture Advisory / Enterprise Alignment Facilitate resolution and escalation of architecture matters requiring enterprise-level consideration by articulating impacts, trade-offs, dependencies, and risk considerations. Represent CoreMod architecture considerations in enterprise governance and decision-making forums. Maintain oversight of the target-state architecture and roadmap, ensuring individual initiatives contribute to the intended business, application, data and technology outcomes.
• Dependency Management Work closely with CoreMod PMO and other stakeholders to identify, elevate, manage, and resolve architecture dependencies. Provide visibility of downstream organisational and technology impacts arising from CoreMod program decisions. Ensure architecture dependencies are documented, tracked, owned, and actively managed through delivery.
• Architectural Governance Facilitate review and alignment of architectural decisions and design direction across CoreMod workstreams to maintain a cohesive target-state architecture and minimise duplication, divergence and unintended impacts. Present architectural decisions and recommendations to the Architecture team for review, endorsement, and governance approval. Ensure architectural decisions are recorded, communicated, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Technical Debt and Day 2 Management Maintain the CoreMod technical debt register, tracking remediation plans, ownership, and delivery timelines. Manage and maintain the Day 2 backlog, ensuring operational, supportability, and sustainability considerations are captured and prioritised. Provide regular reporting on technical debt and Day 2 obligations, including risks and outstanding actions, and escalating matters where management attention is required.
• Certification & Compliance Ensure architecture artefacts comply with enterprise standards and quality expectations. Coordinate and track the completion of required architecture artefacts to support design reviews and certification processes. Facilitate the resolution of feedback and ensure outcomes are achieved within agreed timelines.
