Job summary

Woolworths Group’s Cartology business is seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to own the semantic and BI layer of the data platform, leveraging BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Python, and Looker in a hybrid, flexible Queensland-based role. You will shape platform architecture, establish data engineering standards, and mentor engineers while translating complex tech into commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with production expertise in modern data stacks.

Responsibilities

• Semantic Layer Ownership: Manage Looker models, Explores, and metrics across finance and revenue.
• AI Data Readiness: Curate datasets, semantic definitions, and agent-accessible models for trusted AI results.
• Engineering Standards & SDLC: Establish dbt, BigQuery, and Airflow best practices with testing and CI/CD.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Lead design sessions and mentor engineers to raise standards.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and commercial stakeholders.
• Conversational Analytics Rollout: Deliver plain-language query capabilities via Looker within 12 months.
• Semantic Consolidation & Migration: Standardize metrics and migrate Looker instances across environments.
• Strategy & Roadmap Execution: Drive data roadmap milestones aligned to FY27–29 growth.
