Job summary

Medibank is seeking a Lead Architect - AI to shape the enterprise AI architecture and ensure responsible, scalable adoption across the organisation. You will influence strategy, set standards, and guide senior stakeholders on AI initiatives that deliver trusted outcomes.

Work with the Data & Technology team to balance innovation with governance, security, and risk, driving improvements for customers, employees and operations.

Responsibilities

• Defining and evolving the enterprise architecture strategy for AI capabilities across platforms and services.
• Developing AI roadmaps, architectural standards, reusable patterns and governance guardrails.
• Partnering with stakeholders to translate needs into practical AI solutions and strategies.
• Evaluating emerging AI technologies to improve customer, employee and operational experiences.
• Leading architecture discussions and providing strategic guidance to senior stakeholders.
• Supporting governance to ensure AI solutions meet security, privacy, compliance and risk requirements.
• Maintaining key architecture artefacts including reference architectures and technology guidance.
• Coaching and mentoring architects and technical teams to uplift capability and best practices.
• Monitoring industry trends and translating developments into actionable recommendations.

As the Lead Architect - AI, you'll play a critical role in shaping Medibank's AI future. • Managing and maintaining key architecture artefacts, including reference architectures, standards, decision records and technology guidance.
• Coaching and mentoring architects and technical teams to uplift capability and encourage best practice adoption.
• Monitoring industry trends and translating emerging developments into actionable recommendations for the organisation.

You might already have the skills for this role if you...

• Have extensive experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or technology strategy within a complex organisation.
• Can confidently design and communicate AI, data, automation, or digital platform architectures that align with business outcomes.
• Understand modern AI concepts including generative AI, machine learning, large language models, and AI agents.
• Have experience designing secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-based technology solutions.
• Are skilled at building trusted relationships and influencing senior stakeholders across business and technology teams.
• Can facilitate workshops, navigate complex challenges, and turn strategy into practical, actionable outcomes.
• Have an understanding of responsible AI practices, including governance, privacy, transparency, risk management, and human oversight.
• Enjoy mentoring others and contributing to the growth of architecture capability across an organisation.
