Job summary

Medibank Private Limited is seeking an AI Reliability, Observability & Lifecycle Lead to shape AI governance, observability and lifecycle controls across the enterprise. You will define monitoring standards, build frameworks, and collaborate with architects, data teams and vendors to scale AI services responsibly.

The role combines technical depth with strategic leadership to drive risk-aware AI adoption, operational excellence, and measurable value across customer, employee and business

Qualifications

• Observability, reliability engineering, service management or operational governance within complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience in AI, cloud, platform or data services.
• Designing monitoring, telemetry, incident management and service assurance capabilities.
• AI governance, responsible AI or operational risk frameworks.
• Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure or comparable enterprise technology ecosystems.
• Leading cross-functional initiatives involving technology, risk, security and business stakeholders.
• Developing roadmaps, operating models and enterprise-wide capability uplift programs.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver Medibank's AI observability strategy and roadmap.
• Establish standards for monitoring AI health, performance, quality, safety, adoption and cost.
• Drive operational insight and continuous improvement through meaningful metrics, dashboards and alerting.
• Develop and maintain frameworks that govern AI services from onboarding through to retirement.
• Ensure AI services have clear ownership, risk classification, support models and review processes.
• Work closely with technical agent developers, architects, data specialists and delivery partners to convert workflow designs into buildable requirements.
• Establish monitoring and governance practices that support safety, transparency, privacy and compliance.
• Act as the subject matter expert for AI observability, lifecycle assurance and operational governance.
• Provide evidence-based recommendations that influence investment, risk and operational decisions.

About the role

This is a newly established leadership opportunity responsible for creating and evolving Medibank's enterprise capability for AI observability, lifecycle governance and operational assurance.

You’ll define how we monitor AI agents, copilots, models and AI-enabled services; establish the controls and standards that underpin responsible AI operations; and ensure AI products can be confidently scaled across the organisation.

Working across a rapidly evolving technology landscape, you’ll help create a consistent operating model that enables innovation while managing operational, security, compliance and customer risk.

You’re someone who enjoys bringing structure and governance to emerging technologies without slowing down innovation.

You’ll bring a blend of technical depth, operational leadership and stakeholder influence, along with a genuine curiosity about how AI can create better outcomes for people and organisations.

You’ll likely have experience in:

Observability, reliability engineering, service management or operational governance within complex enterprise environments.

Demonstrated experience in relevant roles in AI, cloud, platform or data services.

Designing monitoring, telemetry, incident management and service assurance capabilities.

AI governance, responsible AI or operational risk frameworks.

Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure or comparable enterprise technology ecosystems.

Leading cross-functional initiatives involving technology, risk, security and business stakeholders.
