Job summary

Montgomery Advisory’s construction team in Sydney is seeking a Lawyer or Senior Associate with front-end construction experience to advise government and private sector clients on major projects across transport, energy, government, telecommunications, education and property development.

You will join a collaborative, high-performing team handling procurement, contract structuring and delivery, with an emphasis on drafting, negotiation and practical commercial advice.

Construction Lawyer – Front-End & Major Projects | Sydney

An exciting opportunity is available for a Lawyer or Senior Associate with front-end construction experience to join a highly regarded Construction & Infrastructure practice in Sydney.

This is an opportunity to work on major construction and infrastructure projects across sectors including transport, aviation, energy, government, telecommunications, education and major property development.

You will join a collaborative and high-performing team advising both government and private sector clients across the full project lifecycle, from procurement and contract structuring through to administration and delivery.

The Role

We are seeking a Lawyer or Senior Associate with at least 2 years' post-admission experience to join the front-end Construction & Infrastructure practice.

You will be involved in:

• Advising on the procurement, structuring and delivery of major projects
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex construction and project agreements
• Advising on procurement strategies and project delivery models
• Advising on contractual risk allocation and contract administration
• Supporting clients throughout all stages of project delivery
• Working across major projects in transport, aviation, energy, telecommunications, government, education and property development
• Collaborating with lawyers across both front-end and back-end construction matters
• Building strong client relationships and providing practical, commercially focused advice

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• At least 2 years' post-admission experience
• Experience in construction, projects or infrastructure law
• Strong front-end construction and major projects experience
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
• Sound commercial judgement and a practical approach to legal advice
• Strong communication, analytical and organisational skills
• A genuine interest in building a long-term career in construction and infrastructure
