Job summary

Montgomery Advisory in Sydney’s Construction team seeks an Associate level lawyer to work on front-end and back-end construction matters, including preparing and negotiating agreements and project documentation for building and engineering projects. You will act in construction disputes before courts, arbitration and tribunals, while working closely with Partners and senior team members.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years' post-admission experience in construction matters.
• Experience across front-end or back-end construction matters.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Construction team has a strong client base and an excellent pipeline of work across construction, development and infrastructure.

The practice advises on both front-end and back-end matters, providing lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of construction issues and work closely with experienced construction lawyers.

Position Description

An opportunity currently exists for an Associate level lawyer to join the Sydney Construction team.

The role will involve a mix of front-end and back-end construction work, including preparing and negotiating agreements, contracts and project documentation for building and engineering projects, as well as acting in construction disputes before courts, arbitration and relevant tribunals.

You will work closely with Partners and senior members of the team, while also having considerable client contact and the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers.

Requirements

To be successful for this role, you will have 2 to 5 years' post-admission experience with exposure to construction matters.

The successful candidate will also have:

• Experience across either front-end or back-end construction matters, with an interest in developing exposure to both.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to build strong working relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
• A genuine interest in understanding clients' industries and developing commercial knowledge.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
