Job summary

EOS Space Systems Pty Ltd is seeking a Laser Scientist/Engineer to join the R&D team in Australia. The role involves laser design, assembly, alignment, testing and maintenance of high-energy laser systems for space-related applications.

You will write technical documentation, report progress, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance EOS IP. The ideal candidate holds a physics/engineering degree with hands-on experience in solid-state laser systems, strong communication skills, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics/engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with bulk solid-state and/or laser systems.
• Experience with alignment and operation of Class 4 lasers, pulsed and CW.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Must be eligible to obtain Australian Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development of new laser subsystems, high-energy lasers for ground-to-space applications.
• Laser design, component specification, assembly, optical alignment, and optimisation.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, and mechanical teams; communicate system requirements.
• Instrument cutting-edge opto-electronics subsystems and combine novel technologies.
• Document investigations and report progress to discipline manager and VPs.
• Support knowledge and capability improvement within the group.
