The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering, 2+ years’ laser experience, and the ability to obtain an Australian government security clearance.

EOS Space Systems develops a wide range of High Energy Laser (HEL) systems and High Power Laser (HPL) with advanced electronic control and instrumentation sub‑systems.
The position is for a Laser Scientist or Engineer within the EOS Space Systems Research & Development (R&D) team. A successful candidate is expected to undertake laser design, assembly, alignment, testing and maintenance. Also, writing technical documentation and reporting is part of the routine.
Assist with the development of new laser subsystems, primarily high energy lasers for ground‑to‑space applications. Includes laser design, component specification, assembly, optical alignment, and optimisation. Work alongside other engineering disciplines (electronics, software, mechanical) and communicate system requirements. Contribute to the instrumentation of cutting‑edge opto‑electronics subsystems, combine novel technologies or concepts to support the innovation and development of EOS IP, support the engineering teams and communicate activity and progress to the respective discipline manager and VPs. Undertake and document investigative experiments to inform the company’s research activities. Assist the general improvement of knowledge and capability within the group.
