Job summary

HL Landscapes is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to lead landscaping and civil construction works across Greater Sydney. You will manage Leading Hands, tradespeople and subcontractors, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery to programme and budget.

There will be opportunity to travel to regional projects as required. You will read drawings and specifications, implement SWMS, conduct toolbox talks and maintain site records.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience on landscaping, civil construction or construction sites.
• Minimum two years in a similar site supervision role.
• Proven ability to lead teams and maintain safety culture.
• Ability to read and work from plans, specifications and ITPs.
• Strong written and verbal communication and site record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Run day-to-day site operations directing crews and subcontractors to keep works on track.
• Coordinate hardscape and softscape works including setout, levels and drainage.
• Control daily labour, plant, materials and subs to maximise productivity and manage costs.
• Read construction drawings and ITPs to ensure works are built as designed.
• Inspect work, resolve defects and maintain quality records and reports.
• Implement SWMS, permits and safety inspections on site.
• Act as main on-site contact for clients and liaise with head contractors and teams.
• Lead and mentor Leading Hands, tradespeople and apprentices.
• Travel between Greater Sydney project sites as needed.
• Keep accurate site diaries, daily reports and incident records.

Site Supervisor – Landscaping & Civil Projects | Greater Sydney

HL Landscapes is seeking an experienced, motivated Site Supervisor to take day-to-day control of landscape and civil construction works across Greater Sydney. You'll lead crews and subcontractors to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard. There may also be opportunities on regional projects for candidates willing to travel and work away.

This role suits a proactive problem-solver with strong leadership skills, a team-focused attitude and a genuine commitment to safety and quality on site.

What you will do

• Site Supervision: Run day-to-day site operations, directing Leading Hands, tradespeople and subcontractors to keep works efficient and on track.
• Works Coordination: Coordinate hardscape and softscape works, including setout, levels, drainage, irrigation and related construction activities.
• Resource Management: Control daily labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise productivity and manage costs, delivering to programme, budget, specification and required finish.
• Drawings and Specifications: Read and work from construction and landscape drawings, specifications and ITPs to make sure works are built as designed.
• Quality Control: Inspect work throughout the project, resolve defects and rework promptly, and maintain quality records, progress photos, as-builts and defect close-out.
• Safety Management: Implement SWMS, permits, traffic management, exclusion zones and plant controls. Run pre-starts, toolbox talks and regular site safety inspections.
• Communication and Liaison: Act as the main on-site contact for clients, providing progress updates and resolving concerns. Liaise with head contractors, consultants and internal project teams.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor Leading Hands, tradespeople and apprentices.
• Site Travel: Move between project sites across Greater Sydney as project needs require.
• Reporting and Documentation: Keep accurate site diaries and complete daily site reports, timesheets and incident reports.

About you

Proven supervisory experience on landscaping, civil construction or construction sites.

Minimum two years in a similar site supervision role preferred.

Proven ability to lead teams and maintain a strong safety culture, with sound WHS knowledge.

Ability to read and work from plans, specifications and ITPs.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, and disciplined site record keeping.

Current Australian driver licence and Construction White Card.

Highly regarded

Trade qualification in Landscape Construction, or strong landscaping experience.

Civil infrastructure / Tier 1 or Tier 2 project experience.

HR licence, Excavator and/or Skid Steer (Bobcat) tickets.

First Aid Certificate.
