Job summary

Banana Shire Council is seeking a hands-on labourer to support landfill and transfer station operations in Queensland. You will operate heavy vehicles, perform routine maintenance, collect recyclables and respond to customer requests while maintaining accurate records and reports.

The role requires a current Queensland C class licence, White/Blue Card, and a proactive, safety-driven approach. Weekend work and on-site teamwork are involved, with opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Queensland C class driver’s licence is compulsory.
• White Card or Blue Card (General Safety Induction) compulsory.
• Desirable: Certificate of Competency – Self-Propelled Compactor or Roller Compactor.
• Desirable: Certificate of Competency – Front-End Loader.
• HR Class Driver’s Licence is desirable in Queensland.

Responsibilities

• Undertake landfill and transfer station site works.
• Operate equipment and plant at waste sites.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report faults.
• Prepare daily written reports of status of works.
• Collect recyclables and commercial waste.
• Liaise with clients and Council staff; provide information as needed.
• Assist in disaster management training and response as required.
• Undertake routine administrative tasks (e.g., timesheets).
