Job summary

Jali LALC seeks a Nyangbul Land and Sea Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of the Land and Sea program and mentor the Ranger team.

You will work closely with Elders and Traditional Owners, build Ranger capacity through mentoring and development, and manage budgets, funding deliverables and reporting. This Aboriginal identified position aims to protect country, culture and community while fostering partnerships and employment pathways.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff, Rangers or community-based teams.
• Experience in land management, natural resource management, conservation, Ranger programs or a related area.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, community and connection to Country.
• Ability to mentor and develop Rangers with different levels of experience and capability.
• Strong planning, coordination and organisational skills.
• Ability to build respectful relationships with Elders, Traditional Owners, community and external stakeholders.
• Experience coordinating projects, budgets, funding deliverables and reporting.
• Sound understanding of workplace health and safety, particularly in field-based environments.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Current driver's licence and ability to hold a National Police Check and WWCC

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Nyangbul Land and Sea program and Ranger team
• Supervise, support and mentor Rangers through strong, culturally appropriate leadership
• Build Ranger capability through on-the-job mentoring, training and development
• Plan and coordinate Ranger projects, field activities, work schedules and priorities
• Support the delivery of Caring for Country, cultural and environmental land and sea management activities
• Work closely with Elders, Traditional Owners, members and the broader Aboriginal community
• Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, contractors and community partners
• Manage program budgets, funding requirements, project deliverables and reporting
• Identify opportunities for new projects, partnerships, funding and employment pathways
• Ensure field activities are appropriately planned, resourced and undertaken safely
