Job summary

Abundance HR in Ballina Shire, NSW, seeks a Nyangbul Land and Sea Manager to lead the Land and Sea program and a Ranger team, mentoring Rangers, building capability and creating growth opportunities within the roles.

You will coordinate field activities, plan budgets, collaborate with Elders and Traditional Owners, and ensure safety and governance across Caring for Country activities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading, supervising or mentoring staff, Rangers or community-based teams.
• Experience in land management, natural resource management, conservation, Ranger programs or a related area.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, community and connection to Country.
• Ability to mentor and develop Rangers with different levels of experience and capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Nyangbul Land and Sea program and Ranger team.
• Supervise, support and mentor Rangers through strong, culturally appropriate leadership.
• Build Ranger capability through on-the-job mentoring, training and development.
• Plan and coordinate Ranger projects, field activities, work schedules and priorities.
• Support the delivery of Caring for Country, cultural and environmental land and sea management activities.
• Work closely with Elders, Traditional Owners, members and the broader Aboriginal community.
• Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, funding bodies, contractors and community partners.
• Manage program budgets, funding requirements, project deliverables and reporting.
• Identify opportunities for new projects, partnerships, funding and employment pathways.
• Ensure field activities are appropriately planned, resourced and undertaken safely.
