Job summary

Healius invites applications for a Laboratory Assistant to support reception, processing and dispatch of pathology specimens with strict accuracy and timeliness. You will register samples, enter data, and help maintain a smooth workflow across core laboratories.

Ideal candidates bring attention to detail, good time management and effective teamwork, with or without prior lab experience. Day and night shifts are available, in a supportive pathology setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.
• A certificate in pathology or a diploma in laboratory techniques is preferred but not mandatory.
• Attention to accuracy, time management and following structured processes are valued.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with a high level of accuracy.
• Register specimens into laboratory systems and manage data entry.
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes.
• Answer enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating when needed.
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections.
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes.
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow procedures.
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe environment.
