Job summary

Healius is seeking a Laboratory Assistant in North Ryde to accurately process pathology specimens in specimen reception, register and dispatch them for testing, and support timely diagnostic results.

You will handle data entry, coordinate enquiries, and maintain records while adhering to laboratory procedures and WHS standards in a busy environment. Training and team collaboration will help develop your skills within our pathology services.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a laboratory is desirable but not essential.
• A certificate in pathology and/or a certificate or diploma in laboratory skills/techniques (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
• A background in healthcare, data entry or roles requiring high levels of accuracy and attention to detail is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Receive, check and process specimens with a high level of accuracy.
• Complete data entry and registration of specimens into laboratory systems.
• Prepare and dispatch specimens to core laboratories within required timeframes.
• Manage enquiries via phone and shared mailboxes, escalating where required.
• Coordinate urgent specimen handling and courier collections.
• Maintain laboratory records, storage and filing processes.
• Participate in routine quality activities and follow laboratory procedures.
• Ensure compliance with WHS policies and maintain a safe working environment.
