Job summary

Oakey Beef Exports, part of NH Foods Group, is seeking local candidates to join our Knifehand team in Oakey. This full-time, permanent role offers early starts from 5:30 AM to 1:36 PM, with overtime when required, and on-the-job training including a Certificate in Meat Processing.

We value motivation to learn and welcome applicants with knife experience, plus related butcher, chef/kitchen, harvesting, knife sharpening or meat processing backgrounds. Entry-level roles are available with training.

Qualifications

• Experience using a knife is highly advantageous.
• Butcher, chef/kitchen, harvesting, knife sharpening or meat processing experience.
• Motivation to learn and develop a long-term pathway.

Oakey Beef Exports, part of the NH Foods Group, is one of Australia’s largest and longest operating beef processing plants! Offering stable, full-time employment and long-term career pathways here in Oakey, we are currently seeking local candidates with knife skills to join our Knifehand team!

Role

Becoming a Knifehand at Oakey Beef Exports is an opportunity to upskill and create a long-term pathway, with over 50+ different trimming and Knifehand roles in one department alone. This Knifehand position offers:

• Full-time, permanent employment in Oakey
• Monday to Friday shifts, with five (5) Saturday’s each year
• 5:30AM – 1:36PM working hours (+1hr OT when required)
• Full on the job training including a Certificate in Meat Processing

What experience are we looking for?

Working As a Knifehand Is Fast-paced And Can Be Physically Demanding. Having The Motivation To Learn Will Be An Asset In Your Success. Previous Experience Using a Knife Will Be Extremely Advantageous! Some Areas Of Experience That Would Be Beneficial Include

• Butcher experience
• Chef/Kitchen experience
• Harvesting/farm experience
• Knife sharpening experience
• Meat/Seafood/Poultry processing experience

While we are currently seeking candidates with existing knife skills, we also offer entry-level roles where training can be provided for those will the motivation to learn!
