Job summary

Oakey Beef Exports is a leading Australian processing plant offering a locally-based electrician role. You will join a skilled team of Electricians and maintenance trades, servicing electrical systems, troubleshooting PLCs and robotics, and supporting plant uptime.

The position involves a rotating roster (3:00am–10:00pm start times) and opportunities for ongoing training. Eligibility includes Certificate III in Electrotechnology, with preference for experience in industrial settings.

Qualifications

• Hold or be working toward a minimum of Certificate III in Electrotechnology.
• Be eager to listen and learn with hands-on experience across technologies.
• Exposure to manufacturing, production or industrial environments.
• Remain calm under pressure in a busy production setting.
• High attention to safety and WHS practices and procedures.
• Strong experience in industrial electrical maintenance is highly regarded.
• Proficiency with PLCs (Allen Bradley/Schneider), VSDs and reading drawings.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and automation/instrumentation is desirable.

What is the opportunity?

Oakey Beef Exports is one of Australia's largest and most advanced processing plants, offering a unique opportunity to work locally with the resources of an industry leader! Diversify your experience with a range of class-leading equipment, machinery and robotics.

You’ll be joining a highly skilled team of Electricians and work closely with other Maintenance tradespersons including fitters, boilermakers and trade assistants. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, your role will be to:

Service, maintain and repair electrical systems across a diverse range of equipment;

Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, robotics and automated systems;

Respond and rectify electrical faults and breakdowns across the plant;

Follow Lock Out Tag Out procedures, holding safety as the highest priority;

Support plant shutdowns, installations, upgrades and capital projects; and

Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support operations and reduce downtime.

This position will work a rotating roster, provided approximately 10 weeks in advance. Shift start times will vary between 3:00am and 10:00pm.

What are we looking for?

This position is open to applications from both qualified Electricians as well as current 3rd or 4th apprentices. As such, you will hold or will be working toward a minimum of Certificate III in Electrotechnology. To be successful, you will:

Be eager to listen and learn, getting hands‑on with a diverse range of technologies;

Have exposure to manufacturing, production or industrial environments; and

Remain calm under pressure, working alongside a busy production setting;

High attention to safety, with knowledge of WHS practices and procedures.

While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:

Strong experience in industrial electrical maintenance, ideally in food or manufacturing;

Proficiency with PLCs (Allen Bradley/Schneider), VSDs, and reading electrical drawings; and

Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and automation/instrumentation.
