Job summary

Delaware North Australia is seeking a part-time Kitchenhand at Melbourne Airport. You will maintain cleanliness, assist with food preparation, and support a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Shifts are Fridays and Sundays from 4:30am to 12:30pm, with duties including cleaning, safety checks, and food presentation. Ideal candidates have a Food Safety Certificate and prior kitchen experience, and are enthusiastic about working in a busy hospitality setting within an iconic transport hub.

Qualifications

• Requires Food Safety Certificate.
• Experience as Kitchen Hand preferred.
• Availability for Fri & Sun 4:30am–12:30pm.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
• Conduct temperature and quality checks and prevent cross-contamination.
• Support kitchen team to keep workspace organized and efficient.
• Perform cleaning duties: floors, dishes, utensils, equipment, waste disposal, dishwasher.
• Assist with food preparation in a commercial kitchen and ensure good presentation.

The opportunity

Delaware North Australia is hiring a part-time Kitchenhand to join our team at Melbourne Airport. As a Kitchenhand, you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, order, and efficiency in the kitchen.

Must be available to work Friday & Sunday 4:30am - 12:30pm.

What will you do?

• Maintain consistent cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen area
• Conduct temperature and quality checks, effectively managing cross-contamination to ensure WHS compliance, displaying a strong commitment to meeting Food Safety standards
• Support kitchen team members in establishing and sustaining an organised and efficient workspace
• Take on hands-on cleaning duties, including sweeping and mopping floors, washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, waste disposal and management, operating a commercial dishwasher, and handling cleaning chemicals
• Execute food preparation tasks within a commercial kitchen environment, showcasing excellent food presentation skills

More about you

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Hand or sandwitch hand
• Food Safety Certificate
• Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced environment
• Must be available to work Friday & Sunday 4:30am - 12:30pm.
