Job summary

Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill in Brisbane is seeking a Part-Time Kitchen Steward to keep the kitchen clean, safe and organised while supporting chefs in a busy environment.

You will run dishwashing, maintain hygiene standards, and assist with waste management and stock organisation on a rotating roster including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans and work areas.
• Operate dishwashing equipment and ensure items are cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness across floors, storage areas and dishwashing stations.
• Support kitchen team with cleaning and organisation of equipment and supplies.
• Ensure clean crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment are available when needed.
• Assist with waste management and recycling per hotel procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements.
• Work closely with kitchen team to keep service running smoothly during busy periods.

Job Description

As our Kitchen Steward, you’ll play an important role in keeping our kitchen clean, safe and organised, helping our chefs focus on what they do best.

Your day‑to‑day will include:

• Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans and work areas.
• Operating commercial dishwashing equipment and ensuring all items are cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintaining cleanliness across kitchen floors, storage areas and dishwashing stations.
• Supporting the kitchen team with the cleaning and organisation of equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring clean crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment are available when needed.
• Assisting with waste management and recycling in line with hotel procedures.
• Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Working closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly, especially during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen stewarding, commercial cleaning or similar role will be highly regarded, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
