Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill is seeking a reliable, hands-on Part-Time Kitchen Steward to support our busy kitchen and keep it clean, organised and running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll assist chefs, ensure hygiene standards, and help maintain a smooth operation during peak service periods.

Formación

• Previous kitchen stewarding or cleaning experience is advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans and work areas.
• Operating dishwashing equipment and ensuring items are cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintaining cleanliness across kitchen floors, storage areas and dishwashing stations.
• Supporting the kitchen team with cleaning and organisation of equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring clean crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment are available when needed.
• Assisting with waste management and recycling in line with hotel procedures.
• Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Working closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly during busy periods.

Job Description

As our Kitchen Steward, you’ll play an important role in keeping our kitchen clean, safe and organised, helping our chefs focus on what they do best.

Your day‑to‑day will include:

• Cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans and work areas.
• Operating commercial dishwashing equipment and ensuring all items are cleaned to a high standard.
• Maintaining cleanliness across kitchen floors, storage areas and dishwashing stations.
• Supporting the kitchen team with the cleaning and organisation of equipment and supplies.
• Ensuring clean crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment are available when needed.
• Assisting with waste management and recycling in line with hotel procedures.
• Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Working closely with the kitchen team to keep service running smoothly, especially during busy periods.

Qualifications

About you

You’re someone who enjoys keeping busy, takes pride in doing a job well and understands the importance of being a reliable team member.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• A positive, can‑do attitude and a strong work ethic.
• The ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• A team‑first mindset and willingness to support colleagues wherever needed.
• An understanding of workplace health and safety and hygiene practices.
• The ability to work independently while also being a great team player.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as required.

Previous experience in a kitchen stewarding, commercial cleaning or similar role will be highly regarded, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
