Job summary

Aegis Aged Care is seeking a Kitchen Hand/Cleaner to join our Hospitality and Housekeeping team. This permanent part-time role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe kitchen and assisting with meal preparation for residents in a compassionate, resident-centered environment.

Your duties include upholding hygiene standards, following infection control, and supporting the Cook/Chef Manager and care team to deliver nutritious meals and a welcoming dining experience for residents across shifts.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in a similar role (preferably in Healthcare).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large numbers of people.
• Knowledge of food safety practices.
• Full Australian working rights and ability to pass police clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the facility.
• Follow infection control procedures and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Assist with preparation and serving of resident meals in line with dietary plans.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and hygienic.
• Ensure proper food handling and food safety practices are followed.
• Collaborate with Cook/Chef Manager and broader care team.

Your work will directly contribute to the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of our residents, all within a supportive and friendly team environment.

Your day will include:

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility.
• Following infection control procedures and the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Assisting with the preparation and serving of resident meals in accordance with dietary and care plans.
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Ensuring correct food handling and food safety practices are always followed.
• Working collaboratively with the Cook/Chef Manager and the wider care team.

We're looking for someone who:

• Enjoys working with and supporting older people.
• Has excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
• Can work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Is flexible and available to work a variety of weekday and weekend shifts.

You should possess the following:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role (preferably in Healthcare Industry).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large number of people.
• A knowledge of food safety.
• Full Australian working rights and able to pass national police clearance.
