Job summary

Aegis Aged Care Shoalwater invites a dedicated Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare meals for residents, following dietary plans and menus, and work under the Chef Manager's guidance.

You will supervise kitchen staff, coordinate food preparation, manage stores intake and storage, and ensure high standards of food safety and service across shifts. The role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, experience cooking large numbers, and Australian working rights with police

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent.
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large numbers.
• Aged Care experience is highly regarded.
• High level of food safety knowledge.
• Full Australian working rights and ability to pass national police clearance.

Our Aegis Shoalwater Facility is situated in the suburb of Shoalwater which is nestled between Warnbro Sound & Shoalwater Bay, with Penguin Island close by. Aegis Shoalwater is a modern and well-equipped Aged Care Facility that supports the care and lifestyle needs of 169 residents.

About the Role

A working day will involve:

• Organising kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of meals.
• Preparing resident’s meals according to dietary plans and menus developed.
• Managing receipt of stores, and food storage according to the relevant regulations.
• Ensuring correct food handling techniques are always observed.

About You

You should ideally be an empathetic person who:

• Enjoys working with the elderly.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Is able to supervise, organise and guide staff, to deliver high quality catering outcomes.
• Has availability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts over weekdays and weekends.
• Can communicate effectively both verbally and written.

You should possess the following:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large number of people.
• Aged Care experience (highly regarded).
• A high level of food safety knowledge.
• Full Australian working rights and able to pass national police clearance.
