Job summary

Roshana Care Group invites applications for a Kitchen Hand at Roshana Bolton Point Aged Care in the Newcastle region. This casual position supports basic food prep, meal service, and kitchen cleanliness to ensure residents enjoy nutritious, well-presented meals every day.

You will work closely with cooks and chefs, follow food safety standards, assist with stock rotation, and help maintain a clean, welcoming kitchen.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling and plating.
• Support meal service and ensure timely delivery of food to residents.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, utensils and equipment.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and infection control standards at all times.

About the Facility

Roshana Bolton Point Aged Care is a 56 beds welcoming residential aged care home offering high-quality care in a safe, supportive and community-focused environment. The home provides comfortable accommodation, modern communal spaces, landscaped outdoor areas and person-centred care designed to support residents’ wellbeing, dignity and independence.

We are looking for a Kitchen Hand to join our aged care team at Roshana Bolton Point Aged Care, in a Casual capacity.

About the Role

As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role behind the scenes, helping ensure our residents enjoy safe, nutritious, and well-presented meals every day. Your work will directly support the comfort and wellbeing of those in our care. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and being part of a supportive team.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, and plating
• Support meal service and ensure timely delivery of food to residents
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, utensils, and equipment
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and infection control standards at all times
• Assist with stock rotation, storage, and kitchen organisation
• Work closely with cooks and chefs to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

What You Will Bring

• Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality setting (preferred but not essential)
• Willingness to learn and take direction in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
• Good time management and attention to detail
• Positive attitude and reliability
• A National Police Clearance or NDIS Screening Check, or willingness to obtain this
• Understanding of food safety practices (or willingness to obtain certification)
