Job summary

Gambaro Hospitality Group on the Gold Coast is looking for a casual Kitchen Hand to support our busy kitchen at Coolangatta. You will assist with food prep, cleaning, and basic station setup while maintaining high food safety standards and helping chefs during service.

This casual role offers flexible hours (20–30 per week) and a friendly team environment where you can learn, grow your cooking skills, and gain hands-on experience in a respected hospitality group on the Gold Coast.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience preferred.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift items safely.
• Physically fit and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up kitchen stations for service, ensuring equipment and ingredients are ready.
• Wash, peel, chop and prepare ingredients per recipes and food safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and cookware.
• Assist with food plating and presentation under guidance of kitchen staff.
• Store and organise food items with proper labeling and rotation.

Gambaro Hospitality Group is seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our team on a casual basis for 20-30 hours. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment at our Coolangatta location. As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an essential role in maintaining our kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality meals to our guests. This position offers flexibility with casual hours, making it ideal for those seeking work-life balance or additional income.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and set up kitchen stations for service, ensuring all equipment and ingredients are readily available
• Wash, peel, chop and prepare fresh ingredients according to recipe requirements and food safety standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils and cookware
• Assist with food plating and presentation under the direction of kitchen staff
• Store and organise food items correctly, following proper labelling and rotation procedures
• Support kitchen staff with general food preparation and cooking duties
• Maintain high standards of personal and kitchen hygiene in compliance with food safety regulations
• Respond promptly to requests from chefs and senior kitchen staff
• Take on additional duties as required to support smooth kitchen operations

What we're looking for

• Prior experience working in a kitchen or hospitality environment is desirable
• A willingness to learn and develop your skills in a professional kitchen setting
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
• Physical fitness and capability to stand for extended periods and lift items safely
• Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied casual shifts
• Food safety knowledge or willingness to complete relevant training and certifications
