Design & Build Recruitment is seeking a Junior HVAC Project Manager for Melbourne data centre projects. You will work with senior PMs, engineers, subcontractors and clients across the full project lifecycle of technically complex HVAC systems.

Ideal candidates have HVAC/mechanical services background and are ready to advance into project management, managing projects up to about $1m in value. Strong communication and organisational skills are required.

Qualifications

• Background in HVAC, mechanical services or building services.
• Experience in roles such as Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Contracts Administrator or Junior Project Manager.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.

Responsabilités

• Assist delivery of HVAC and mechanical services projects from mobilisation through to completion.
• Support senior Project Managers with planning, programming, procurement and delivery.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and consultants.
• Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, variations and forecasting.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs and technical documentation.
• Assist with project programming and monitor progress against milestones.
• Coordinate site activities to meet safety, efficiency and spec requirements.
• Build relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Assist with commissioning, testing and handover of systems.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance.
• Identify risks and help develop solutions.
• Collaborate with senior management to meet commercial and project objectives.

Junior HVAC Project Manager - Data Centres

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 + Super + $15,000 Car Allowance

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Junior HVAC Project Manager to join an established HVAC contractor delivering major mechanical services projects across Melbourne.

The business has a strong presence within the Data Centre and Critical Infrastructure sector and is looking for a motivated HVAC professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and develop into a fully‑fledged Project Manager.

You will work closely with senior Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors and clients, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle across technically complex HVAC and mechanical services projects.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced HVAC Project Engineer, Project Coordinator or Junior Project Manager looking to take on greater responsibility and progress within the data centre sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the delivery of HVAC and mechanical services projects from mobilisation through to completion.
• Support senior Project Managers with project planning, programming, procurement and delivery.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, site teams and consultants.
• Assist with project budgets, cost tracking, variations and forecasting.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs and technical documentation.
• Assist with project programming and monitor progress against key milestones.
• Coordinate site activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with commissioning, testing and handover of mechanical/HVAC systems.
• Maintain project documentation and ensure relevant compliance requirements are met.
• Identify potential project risks and assist with developing appropriate solutions.
• Work closely with senior management to ensure commercial and project objectives are achieved.

About You

We are looking for someone with a background in HVAC, mechanical services or building services who is ready to progress into a Project Management position.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working for an HVAC or mechanical services contractor.
• Experience in a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, Contracts Administrator or Junior Project Manager capacity, ideally managing projects up to a $1m value.
• Strong understanding of HVAC/mechanical services construction and installation.
• Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, critical infrastructure or data centre projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs, variations and procurement.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive attitude and genuine desire to develop into a senior Project Manager.

Data Centre experience is highly desirable, but not essential for the right HVAC professional with strong project delivery experience.
