Job summary

Australian Laboratory Services Pty Ltd is seeking entry-level Fire Assayers to join our team. You will learn to weigh samples, handle flux reagents, and operate furnaces up to 1100°C to fuse mixtures and extract metals such as gold.

Full training is provided, with opportunities for progression to a full-time position. The role includes shift allowances and penalties for weekends/overtime, with a supportive environment and emphasis on safety and precision.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a high-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in fire assay processes.
• Clear communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process.
• Operate high-temperature furnaces (900 - 1100°C) to fuse mixtures and extract metals such as gold.
• Perform cupellation and prilling to collect and prepare metal samples for analysis.
• Inspect samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Record and report any anomalies to maintain the integrity of the assay process.
• Follow strict safety procedures and proactively identify potential hazards in the workplace.
