Job summary

ALS Global in Wivenhoe Pocket, QLD, AU is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Metallurgy team. This casual, site-based role offers day shift hours (8am-4pm) with a pathway to permanent full-time employment after a period of service.

You will perform metallurgical test work procedures, assist with sample preparation, and ensure accurate record keeping while adhering to safety standards. Training will be provided and no FIFO is required.

Qualifications

• Good communication, organisational, and time management skills.
• Great attention to detail and highly motivated.
• Ability to undertake shift work as required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good physical fitness with the ability to perform manual handling tasks.
• Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.

• Previous experience in similar laboratory or mine site roles will be highly regarded.
• Exposure to mine site test work would be beneficial but not essential.
• Good mechanical aptitude would also be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Area Supervisor and Team Leaders, you will assist in performing bench test work procedures.
• Involvement in the sample preparation process and procedures.
• Following procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard.
• Accurate record keeping, capturing, and processing control samples.
• Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the workplace.
