Job summary

ALS Limited in Balcatta, Western Australia, is seeking a Fire Assay Technician for our metallurgical services lab. The role is casual, up to 75 hours per fortnight, with day, afternoon and occasional night shifts. This is not FIFO and there is potential for permanent employment after a period of service.

You will perform fire assay procedures, wet chemistry, scorification, and sample prep, with training provided for applicants without prior lab or mine-site experience.

Responsibilities

• Performing all aspects of the fire assay process, including weighing, fluxing, pouring, de-slagging, cupellation and prilling.
• Conducting wet chemistry digestions of prills, including aqua regia and amalgam methods.
• Performing scorification.
• Supporting the Area Supervisor and Team Leaders with sample preparation procedures.
• Following procedures to complete test work to a high safety standard.
• Maintaining accurate records, including capturing and processing control samples.

You will be employed on a **casual basis**, working up to **75 hours per fortnight**. **Shift work is required for this role, including day, afternoon and occasional night shifts, with the possibility of permanent employment after a period of service**. Reporting to the **Area Supervisor**, you will perform fire assay procedures safely and effectively to meet client expectations.
