Description

About us

We are Argon & Co, a global management consultancy that specialises in operations strategy and transformation. Our expertise spans manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, logistics, warehouse automation and distribution network optimisation. We work together with clients to transform their businesses and generate real change.

We foster an inclusive culture driven by the diversity of our employees and a flat management structure that encourages collaboration and contribution from the whole team.

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Financial Analyst to join our APAC Finance team and support the Senior Financial Analyst and wider Finance team across Australia and New Zealand. Based in either Sydney or Melbourne, you’ll have the opportunity to work across our APAC finance operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional to build their accounting and financial analysis skills while gaining exposure to a growing global consultancy and its APAC operations. You'll be involved in a broad range of finance activities, including month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax and statutory reporting, audit support and financial analysis. You'll take ownership of assigned recurring activities while developing your knowledge of finance systems, processes and controls.

Key responsibilities

  • Complete assigned month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules, within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and complete bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for tax and statutory obligations across the APAC region, including BAS, payroll tax, PAYG and IRD requirements.
  • Support budgets, monthly reforecasts, management reporting and cash flow analysis, as well as sales pipeline, revenue, cost and project profitability analysis.
  • Support year-end audit activities, responding to audit and tax queries and maintaining appropriate documentation and audit trails.
  • Contribute to process improvement, finance projects and documentation, while following finance controls and escalating potential errors or issues appropriately.

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable working in a changing environment, takes initiative, and enjoys building new processes and ways of working from the ground up. Ideally, you will bring:

  • A degree, diploma or relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline, or demonstrated progress towards one.
  • Early-career experience in finance, accounting, audit, financial analysis or a similar role. Relevant graduate or internship experience will also be considered.
  • An understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, journals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
  • Strong Excel skills, with experience using formulas, lookups and pivot tables desirable. Confidence learning accounting or ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage recurring activities accurately and meet deadlines.
  • A curious and positive approach to learning, with clear written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to develop your finance knowledge.
