Job summary

ACLE Services is a leading renewable energy EPC contractor seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, energisation and handover for the DEBESS Battery Energy Storage Project in Australia. You will own commissioning activities across electrical, instrumentation and control systems, driving safe, on-time delivery.

The role requires a degree in electrical engineering or an electrical trade qualification, 3+ years in commissioning, and hands-on experience with LV/HV systems,

Qualifications

• 3+ years in commissioning, electrical engineering or a related electrical industry role.
• Strong practical knowledge of LV/HV systems, electrical infrastructure and associated plant equipment.
• Experience with instrumentation, control systems, industrial communications and PLC/SCADA environments.
• Proven ability to read electrical drawings, perform fault-finding and manage commissioning activities through to completion.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, FAT/SAT, functional testing, plant energisation and system handover, safely and in accordance with project requirements.
• Review commissioning documentation, electrical drawings and technical specifications while managing defects, technical issues and stakeholder coordination throughout the commissioning process.
• Carry out commissioning activities in accordance with project safety requirements, isolation procedures, LOTO systems and permit-to-work controls.
• Maintain accurate commissioning records, reports and handover documentation.

About the Project / Role

The DEBESS Project is a major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development supporting Australia’s renewable energy transition and grid reliability.

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our Project Delivery team and take ownership of testing, troubleshooting, energisation and handover activities for utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer capable of managing assigned systems and driving commissioning activities from testing and fault-finding through to energisation and final handover.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.

Support testing, troubleshooting, FAT/SAT, functional testing, plant energisation and system handover, ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.

Review commissioning documentation, electrical drawings and technical specifications while managing defects, technical issues and stakeholder coordination throughout the commissioning process.

Carry out commissioning activities in accordance with project safety requirements, isolation procedures, LOTO systems and permit-to-work controls.

Maintain accurate commissioning records, reports and handover documentation.

About You

Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or hold a recognised Electrical Trade Qualification.

Minimum 3 years' experience in commissioning, electrical engineering or a related electrical industry role.

Strong practical knowledge of LV/HV systems, electrical infrastructure and associated plant equipment.

Experience with instrumentation, control systems, industrial communications and PLC/SCADA environments.

Proven ability to read electrical drawings, perform fault-finding, solve technical issues and manage commissioning activities through to completion.

Experience commissioning switchgear, switchboards, transformers, protection systems and associated balance-of-plant equipment will be highly regarded.

Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a commitment to safety and quality.
