Job summary

ACLE Services is seeking a Project Engineering Lead – Electrical to oversee electrical execution for BESS and HV substations in NSW. You will lead, mentor, and review PE deliverables while ensuring safety, QA, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, strong leadership, and experience with AS/NZS standards, NER/AEMO requirements, and protection/earthing. You will engage with clients and OEMs on complex renewable energy projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Proven lead/supervisory experience on construction-phase electrical execution.
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards and NER/AEMO requirements.
• Experience with protection/control, earthing and 33 kV–330 kV substations.
• QA/QC, commissioning and contractor oversight track record.

Responsibilities

• Leads portfolio-wide electrical execution strategy across BESS, substation, and solar interfaces.
• Oversees electrical works from pre-construction through commissioning.
• Reviews and approves PE deliverables (test plans, QA packs, as-builts).
• Mentors and manages site-based Electrical PEs, including performance and training.
• Conducts site audits for workmanship and standards compliance.
• Represents ACLE with clients, NSPs/utilities, and OEMs.
• Tracks portfolio deliverables, milestones, and risk; reports to Head of Engineering.
• Identifies and mitigates key electrical risks (grid compliance, arc-flash, protection coordination).

About the Role

The Yanco BESS is a major 250MW / 1,000MWh battery energy storage project in regional New South Wales. As the Balance of Plant contractor, ACLE is helping deliver critical infrastructure that will enhance grid reliability and support the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity network.

ACLE is seeking an experienced Project Engineer Lead – Electrical to oversee electrical engineering execution across our portfolio of utility-scale renewable projects, with a primary focus on BESS plants and HV substations, and interfaces with solar PV collector systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads portfolio-wide electrical execution strategy across BESS, substation, and solar interfaces
• Oversees electrical works from pre-construction through commissioning
• Reviews and approves PE deliverables (test plans, QA packs, as-builts)
• Mentors and manages site-based Electrical PEs, including performance and training
• Conducts site audits for workmanship and standards compliance
• Represents ACLE with clients, NSPs/utilities, and OEMs
• Tracks portfolio deliverables, milestones, and risk; reports to Head of Engineering
• Identifies and mitigates key electrical risks (grid compliance, arc-flash, protection coordination)
• Monitors cost drivers and supports value engineering

About You

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering; proficient across power/renewables projects
• working experience in a lead/supervisory role on construction-phase electrical execution
• Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards and NER/AEMO requirements
• Experience with protection/control, earthing, and 33 kV–330 kV substation works
• Proven QA/QC, commissioning, and contractor oversight track record
• Proficient in power systems studies and document control platforms (e.g., ACC)
