Job summary

DT Infrastructure seeks a Commissioning Manager to own the commissioning phase of a major renewable energy project. You will bridge electrical completion and grid connection, leading a team of engineers and subcontractors on a 14/7 site roster with accommodation and allowances provided.

You will ensure MV/HV systems, SCADA, and inverters are tested and compliant with AEMO and GPS standards, while delivering safe, high-quality outcomes and thorough handover documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with extensive management experience.
• Proven track record as Commissioning Manager on utility-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects (200MW+ preferred).
• Deep understanding of MV/HV electrical systems, inverters, trackers, and SCADA networks.
• Strong familiarity with Australian National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO processes, and grid connection requirements.
• Valid Construction White Card. HV Switching qualifications highly regarded.

• Lead the Commissioning Phase: develop, implement, and manage the overarching commissioning strategy, testing procedures (ITPs), and energization plans.
• Grid Compliance: manage the Hold Point testing process and ensure strict compliance with AEMO and GPS.
• Team Leadership: direct and coordinate commissioning engineers, HV operators, SCADA technicians, and OEM representatives.
• Safety & Quality Assurance: champion a zero-harm culture during energization; ensure all LOTO and HV switching procedures are followed.
• Defect Management: identify, document, and manage resolution of any electrical, mechanical, or SCADA punch-list items before practical completion.
• Reporting: provide accurate, real-time progress reports, technical docs, and handover manuals to stakeholders and client.

Job description

As the Commissioning Manager, you will take ultimate ownership of the project's commissioning phase. You will bridge the gap between mechanical/electrical completion and final grid connection, ensuring that all systems are tested, safe, and compliant with strict AEMO and Network Service Provider (NSP) standards.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead a team of engineers, and subcontractors to safely bring the solar farm online and ensure it operates at peak performance.
This is a Site-based position (DIDO) on a major renewable energy construction project with a rostered working arrangement (14/7), with accommodation and allowances provided as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Commissioning Phase: Develop, implement, and manage the overarching commissioning strategy, testing procedures (ITPs), and energization plans.
• Grid Compliance: Manage the Hold Point testing process and ensure strict compliance with AEMO and the local NSPGenerator Performance Standards (GPS).
• Team Leadership: Direct and coordinate commissioning engineers, high-voltage (HV) operators, SCADA technicians, and OEM representatives.
• Safety & Quality Assurance: Champion a zero-harm culture during the high-risk energization phase. Ensure all LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) and HV switching procedures are strictly adhered to.
• Defect Management: Identify, document, and manage the resolution of any electrical, mechanical, or SCADA punch-list items prior to practical completion.
• Reporting: Provide accurate, real-time progress reports, technical documentation, and handover manuals to internal stakeholders and the client.

About You

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a relevant electrical trade background with extensive management experience.
• Industry Experience: Proven track record as a Commissioning Manager or Lead Commissioning Engineer on utility-scale solar, wind, or BESS projects (200MW+ preferred).
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of MV/HV electrical systems, inverters, trackers, and SCADA networks.
• Regulatory Familiarity: Strong working knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO registration processes, and grid connection requirements.
• Certifications: Valid Construction White Card. (HV Switching qualifications are highly regarded).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to remain calm under the pressure of project deadlines.
