Job summary

e-STORAGE, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, seeks an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead end-to-end commissioning for utility-scale battery storage projects in Australia. You will manage a team of engineers and technicians, develop plans, and liaise with clients, EPCs, and internal teams to ensure safe, timely project delivery.

The role requires a strong electrical background, 5+ years in commissioning, and the ability to travel to sites for key milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of experience in commissioning or project delivery within energy, utilities, substation, or EPC environments.
  • At least 2 years’ experience leading teams or supervising technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection schemes, and power system design.
  • Experience with grid connection processes, R2 testing, and hold point testing is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience with battery storage or renewable energy projects highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in MS Project or Smartsheet, with solid technical documentation skills.
  • A confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex technical issues and drive decisions under pressure.

  • Develop commissioning plans and procedures, including quality inspections, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Act as the key technical liaison between clients, EPCs, and internal engineering teams during project execution.
  • Oversee all aspects of site commissioning and acceptance testing – including batteries, PCS, EMS, communications, and balance of plant systems.
  • Drive consistent commissioning processes, documentation, and safety practices across projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead by example — fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and a safety-first culture within your team.
  • Travel to project sites as needed for on-site leadership during key commissioning phases.
