Job summary

Fitin Pty Ltd in Seven Hills, Sydney NSW, is seeking a Joinery Draftsperson / Project Coordinator to own projects from initial documentation through drafting, approval, procurement and release to production. This is not an entry-level drafting role and requires hands-on Mozaik experience and a strong understanding of cabinetry manufacturing.

About Fitin

Fitin is a growing Sydney-based joinery manufacturing company delivering residential and commercial joinery projects.

As our workload continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Joinery Draftsperson / Project Coordinator who can take ownership of projects from initial documentation and drafting through client approval, material procurement and release to production.

This is not an entry-level drafting position.

We are looking for someone who understands how joinery is actually manufactured and who can manage the technical and coordination side of a project — not simply produce drawings.

The Role

You will receive a project including architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, site information and other relevant documentation and coordinate it through the pre-production process.

Your primary responsibility will be producing accurate joinery designs and shop drawings using Mozaik Cabinet Software, while also coordinating revisions, materials, purchasing, documentation and project information required by our factory.

You will work closely with management, clients/builders, suppliers and our production team to make sure each project is properly documented, approved, ordered and ready for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

Mozaik Drafting & Design

• Prepare detailed joinery and cabinetry shop drawings using Mozaik Cabinet Software
• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, site measurements and client requirements
• Develop practical and manufacturable cabinetry solutions from the design documentation
• Prepare plans, elevations, sections, dimensions and relevant construction details
• Ensure cabinetry dimensions, materials, finishes and hardware are correctly documented
• Review designs for practicality, manufacturing efficiency and material usage
• Prepare production-ready information including cut lists, material lists and CNC/manufacturing data where required
• Check your own drawings carefully before they are issued

Shop Drawing & Approval Coordination

• Prepare and issue shop drawings for client/builder review
• Maintain accurate drawing registers and revision control
• Review client, architect and builder comments
• Make required amendments accurately and promptly
• Reissue revised drawings for approval
• Track outstanding approvals and information
• Ensure the latest approved drawings are clearly identified before anything is released to production
• Identify discrepancies or missing information before they become factory or installation problems

Material Take-Off & Allocation

Once a project is approved:

• Generate and verify material requirements from Mozaik and project documentation
• Prepare board, hardware and component requirements
• Calculate quantities required for production
• Check available stock before purchasing additional material
• Allocate existing stock to projects where appropriate
• Consider material optimisation and wastage when calculating requirements
• Confirm specified colours, finishes, thicknesses and hardware before ordering

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

• Prepare and place purchase orders for project materials and hardware
• Liaise with board, hardware and other relevant suppliers
• Obtain pricing where required
• Confirm availability and lead times
• Coordinate deliveries with the production programme
• Follow up outstanding orders
• Confirm ordered materials have been received
• Check deliveries against purchase orders and project requirements
• Escalate shortages, incorrect materials or delivery issues before they affect production

Project Coordination

• Maintain visibility of each allocated project from drafting through production release
• Coordinate project information between management, client/builder, suppliers and factory
• Track key dates including drawing submission, approval, material ordering and production readiness
• Identify potential delays or technical problems early
• Keep project documentation organised and current
• Assist with variations and changes throughout the project
• Provide management with clear updates on project status and outstanding actions

Project Cost Control

• Assist with maintaining project cost information
• Record major material and hardware purchases against projects
• Compare estimated material requirements with actual purchasing where requiredIdentify significant material or scope variations
• Assist management with basic project cost tracking
• Maintain organised supplier quotations, purchase orders and project records

Production Support

• Release accurate and approved information to production
• Communicate technical requirements clearly with the factory
• Respond to production queries and resolve drawing or material issues
• Make controlled drawing changes where necessary
• Help ensure the factory is always working from the latest approved information
• Support continuous improvement of drafting, purchasing and production workflows

Essential Experience

Mozaik experience is mandatory for this position.

The successful candidate should have:

• Minimum 1–2 years of practical, hands‑on experience using Mozaik Cabinet Software
• Previous joinery/cabinetry drafting experience
• Strong understanding of cabinet construction and manufacturing
• Experience preparing shop drawings suitable for client approval and production
• Ability to read architectural drawings, plans and specifications
• Understanding of common cabinetry materials, board products, hardware and finishes
• Strong attention to detail
• Good organisational and time‑management skills
• Ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of allocated projects
• Good written and verbal communication skills

AutoCAD experience is an advantage, but it is not mandatory. Strong Mozaik capability is considerably more important for this role.

Accuracy, organisation and ownership are extremely important in this position.
