Job summary

Federation Council is seeking an IT Systems & Data Analyst to provide system analysis and strategic support by leveraging technology and data. The primary focus of this role is to drive operational excellence and informed decision-making while improving business processes and data governance.

You will utilise your broad knowledge of IT systems to identify and oversee procedural improvements, and you will be responsible for transforming raw corporate data into actionable business intelligence

Qualifications

• Requires tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to clean, filter and manipulate large data sets.
• Experience presenting report data clearly and concisely.
• Knowledge of IT planning, security, procurement and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a suite of corporate reports and BI dashboards from core Council systems.
• Execute advanced data extraction and manipulation across enterprise databases using SQL queries.
• Review systems for efficiency, and develop data-driven business cases for improvements.
• Collaborate with IT vendors to manage projects and align budget use.
• Provide Tier 2 support, system administration, and end-user training.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and user guides.

Job description

Federation Council is seeking an IT Systems & Data Analyst to provide system analysis and strategic support by leveraging technology and data.

The primary focus of this role is to drive operational excellence and informed decision-making while improving business processes and data governance. You will utilise your broad knowledge of IT systems to identify and oversee procedural improvements, and you will be responsible for transforming raw corporate data into actionable business intelligence through the design of high-quality reporting.

In this role you will, but not limited to:

• Design, develop, and deliver a structured suite of corporate reports and interactive business intelligence dashboards using data from core Council systems, such as Authority, Asset Register, GIS, and Customer Request System.
• Execute advanced data extraction and manipulation across diverse enterprise databases using SQL queries to meet departmental reporting needs.
• Conduct 'fit for purpose' reviews of corporate systems, proactively identifying systemic inefficiencies and developing data-driven business cases for improvement projects.
• Collaborate effectively with IT vendors to manage projects, ensuring Council's technology budget is applied strategically and efficiently.
• Provide Tier 2 operational support, system administration, and end-user training to ensure staff effectively utilise Council's IT solutions.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, procedural manuals, and user guides to support continual service improvement.

Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent industry experience, along with a current class "C" driver's license.
• Capacity to accurately clean, filter, and manipulate large sets of data.
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex database schemas and proficiency in presenting report data in a clear and concise format.
• Strong understanding of strategic IT planning, including system analysis, information security, ICT procurement & vendor management, as well as the ability to locate and define new process improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage time, set priorities, make decisions independently, and organise work efficiently to meet objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts with patience to users of varying skill levels.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $53.48 per hour with progression up to $59.03 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
