Job description

For over 20 years, we've been a trusted local partner for organisations across Australia and New Zealand. We cut through the noise to make the unclear actionable, delivering measurable outcomes with honest guidance, every time. Proudly 100% Australian and New Zealand owned, we bring personal understanding to every engagement, so you stay clear, confident and ahead.

About the role

We are looking for a IT Manager to take ownership of the organisation's day-to-day IT operations and internal technology environment.

This is a hands-on and independent role where you will be the go-to person for technical support, Microsoft 365 administration, endpoint and device management, networking, cyber security and IT asset management. You will work closely with employees across the organisation, taking ownership of the internal IT environment and ensuring technical issues are identified, resolved and followed through to completion. You will also play a key role in maintaining reliable, secure and well-managed IT systems across the business.

The role has a strong focus on cyber security, Essential Eight controls and vulnerability remediation, making it ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on IT operations with security responsibilities and wants to have genuine ownership of an organisation's technology environment.

Key responsibilities

Act as the primary point of contact for employees, providing hands-on technical support across hardware, software, applications and network-related issues.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, connectivity and user-access issues, escalating to external providers where specialist support is required.

Prepare, configure and deploy laptops and other devices, including operating systems, applications, security settings, patches and network access.

Manage user accounts, access, permissions and licences across Microsoft 365 and related platforms.

Create, modify and disable user accounts, reset passwords and manage access permissions as part of joiner, mover and leaver processes.

Support the implementation, monitoring and ongoing maintenance of Essential Eight security controls, including patch management, application control, secure configuration, MFA, access management and vulnerability remediation.

Identify, investigate and coordinate the remediation of vulnerabilities across endpoints, applications and systems.

Support endpoint security and monitoring using tools such as Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender.

Investigate, analyse and resolve IT incidents, service disruptions and outages, ensuring issues are documented and followed through to resolution.

Troubleshoot network and firewall issues by reviewing connectivity, traffic, rules, logs and physical/network configurations.

Install, configure and maintain workstations, software, drivers, operating systems and security updates.

Maintain accurate IT asset records and coordinate hardware procurement, allocation, replacement and lifecycle activities.

Manage software assets and licences, track usage, coordinate renewals and ensure licensing compliance.

Conduct regular system, endpoint and network monitoring to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.

Assist with security assessments, audits, documentation and information security requirements, including ISO 27001/ISMS where required.

Coordinate with the managed IT service provider and technology vendors, managing escalations and ensuring issues are resolved within appropriate timeframes.

Maintain IT procedures, technical documentation and security evidence, while identifying opportunities to improve and automate IT processes.

About you

5+ years' experience in IT support, systems administration, infrastructure or a similar technical environment.

Experience working within a professional services environment, ideally with a background supporting accounting, legal or similar professional services organisations.

Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory and/or Entra ID.

Experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender and endpoint management.

Practical experience with Essential Eight, vulnerability remediation, patching and access controls.

Strong networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, VPN and firewall troubleshooting.

Exposure to ISO 27001/ISMS and information security compliance.

Experience managing IT assets, software licensing and technology environments.

Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and take ownership through to resolution.

Relevant IT, Computer Science or Cyber Security qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
