Job summary

Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation in Cairns, QLD is seeking a Client Officer for the Leaving Violence Program. The role provides up to 12 weeks of case management to victim-survivors of intimate partner violence, delivering support plans, safety planning, advocacy and referrals.

Based in Cairns with fortnightly travel to remote communities in Cape York, Thursday Island, the Gulf and Cairns, you will work in a culturally safe, trauma-informed way and maintain client

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality per organisational policy
• Culturally respectful and competent work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
• Understand impact of domestic and family violence on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

Responsibilities

• Provide up to 12 weeks of case management support to victim-survivors of IPV
• Develop support plans and risk assessments with safety planning
• Provide referrals to appropriate services to improve circumstances
• Offer emotional and practical support to empower informed decisions
• Implement timely safety responses to concerns
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders through community engagement
