Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service in Cairns, QLD, invites applications for a Senior Leader who will supervise Embedded DV Workers across four police stations and contribute to the CRDVS service plan.

Qualifications

• Degree level tertiary qualifications in social/behavioural sciences and experience in domestic and family violence.
• Two years staff supervision experience.
• Class C driving licence.
• Strong advocacy and crisis intervention skills.
• In-depth knowledge of trauma-informed counselling frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) to deliver activities aimed at improving safety of victim-survivors and service integration with QPS.
• Coordinate the Embedded DV Workers at QPS police stations, ensuring staff are rostered across four stations.
• Provide regular internal supervision and debriefing to the Embedded DV Workers.
• Maintain confidential client records including risk assessments and case management plans.
• Monitor expenditure of brokerage for the four police stations.
• Participate in formulation and implementation of the service plan as part of the Senior Management Team.

Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service - Cairns QLD

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide day to day supervision and support to direct client service workers (the Embedded DV Workers) based in the Cairns, Edmonton, Mareeba and Smithfield Queensland police stations and assist with developing and maintaining client programmes of the CRDVS as part of the CRDVS Senior Leadership Team. On occasion, this may entail direct service delivery at the above police stations.

Key responsibilities

Work closely with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) to ensure delivery of a range of activities aimed at improving the safety of victim-survivors and promoting holding perpetrators to account and improvement of service system integration with QPS

Coordinate the Embedded DV Workers at QPS police stations, ensuring staff are rostered across all four police stations

Ensure support for victim-survivors who attend the police station is prioritised;

Provide regular internal supervision and debriefing to the Embedded DV Workers

Demonstrate knowledge and skills in a variety of modalities appropriate to counselling people as their individual needs and learning styles dictate

Engage in collaborative debriefing and reflective practice with QPS to continually improve and support responses

Ensure the maintenance of appropriate, accurate and confidential records of client work, including risk assessments and case management plans, in line with privacy legislation

Monitor the expenditure of brokerage for the four police stations

Maintain clear communication across the CRDVS teams

Participate in the formulation and implementation of the service plan as part of the Senior Management Team

Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends and practices concerning domestic and family violence

About you

Degree level tertiary qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences (eg. Psychology, Social Work, Counselling) and previous experience working in the specialist domestic and family violence field (Essential)

Two years staff supervision experience (Desirable)

Class C driving licence (Desirable)

Demonstrated high level of skill in providing advocacy and crisis intervention

Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of a range of trauma informed counselling and other frameworks underpinning approaches to clients affected by domestic violence

Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work cooperatively within a team environment

High level written and spoken communication in order to liaise with government and non-government agencies to advocate on behalf of clients

Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Office applications

Demonstrated knowledge of legislation impacting on situations of domestic violence

Demonstrated professional qualities of initiative, strategic thinking, and analytical and problem-solving skills
