Job summary

Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation is seeking a Specialist Domestic and Family Violence Worker in Cairns, QLD. You will lead DFV practice development, provide specialist guidance to frontline staff and deliver training to strengthen the DFV workforce within a culturally safe framework.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or a related social/behavioural science.
• Demonstrated experience in social services, with direct experience in DFV and/or child protection.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and applying it with diverse communities.
• Postgraduate qualifications and/or experience within an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community organisation are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, review and implementation of DFV practice frameworks, policies and procedures.
• Provide specialist practice guidance to frontline staff with trauma-informed, culturally safe approaches.
• Deliver training, practice resources and reflective supervision to build staff capability in DFV response.
• Provide oversight and quality assurance of DFV case management and complex decisions.
• Conduct regular case file audits to monitor documentation and identify improvements.
• Build and maintain relationships with government agencies and community organisations for coordinated DFV responses.
• Represent RAATSIC at interagency forums and collaborative planning processes.
• Engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Elders to reflect community voice in practice.
• Stay current with research and policy reforms, translating them into actionable guidance.
