Job summary

Remote Area Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation – Cairns QLD is seeking a full-time Case Manager to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander survivors navigating the National Redress Scheme from Cairns. You will provide trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally safe support and coordinate referrals to counselling, legal and wellbeing services.

Qualifications

• Experience in case management, advocacy or support services within the community services sector.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience with complex trauma.
• Knowledge of culturally safe and person-centred practice.
• Excellent communication, engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work sensitively with people who have faced significant life challenges.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Current C Class Queensland Driver Licence and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
• Experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed case management and practical support to individuals engaging with the National Redress Scheme.
• Work with survivors throughout their redress journey delivering culturally safe, respectful, person-centred services.
• Deliver individualised case management and support to clients accessing the National Redress Scheme.
• Assist clients to understand the redress process and complete applications and documents.
• Develop comprehensive assessments and support plans addressing needs and goals.
• Advocate for clients and coordinate referrals to counselling, legal and wellbeing services.
• Maintain case notes and reporting per legislative and organisational requirements.
• Collaborate with community organisations and government agencies to improve outcomes.
• Participate in outreach and community engagement to raise awareness of redress services.
• Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement activities.
