Our client is a leading Global Corporate & Investment Bank with a sizable and growing presence in Australia. They are seeking an Operational Risk & Internal Audit Analyst to join their team on an initial 6-month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC). Unlike a standard daily-rate contract, this role offers full employee benefits, including pro-rata annual leave and sick leave entitlements.
The core focus of this role is to bridge the gap between risk management and independent assurance. You will assist with the comprehensive review, management, and completion of internal and external audit matters, ensuring the bank's operational risk frameworks and controls remain robust and compliant. Working closely with the Senior Manager, you will also gain exposure to branch-wide project management.
Internal Audit & Control Testing: Heavy focus on analyzing audit data, performing risk assessments, conducting independent investigations, and executing rigorous control testing to evaluate the design and operational effectiveness of the bank's internal controls.
Audit Reporting & Governance: Prepare and coordinate comprehensive audit and operational risk reports for the senior officer, local Senior Management, and global Head Office.
Framework Management: Review and promote the Branch’s internal control evaluations through Control Self-Assessment (CSA) reports, Outsourcing reports, and Service Quality Reporting.
Monitoring & Assurance: Perform daily independent SWIFT checks, monthly transaction volume analysis, and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reporting. Conduct regular internal audit checks on branch operations (e.g., voice recording audits).
Regulatory Compliance: Review the bank’s compliance with Australian regulatory requirements and global internal standards, identifying and escalating any breaches or compliance obligations.
Experience: 2+ years of previous experience in Internal Audit or Operational Risk, specifically within a Banking or Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) environment.
Regulatory & Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian Prudential requirements (APRA), corporate financial markets, and investment banking products.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, alongside experience working with specialized risk/audit workflow systems.
Execution: Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to confidently deliver audit files and risk reports to tight deadlines.
Communication: Fluent in written and spoken English, with the capability to interface with global stakeholders.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a strong applicant with an Internal Audit and Operational Risk background, to work with our client on an initial 6m FTC, in their lovely Sydney offices. There is some WFH hybrid flex once you are established in the team.
