Job summary

IKEA Perth is seeking an Interior Design Co-worker to bring inspiring room settings and home furnishing solutions to life for the many people.

You’ll work in a collaborative retail team across Interior Design, Sales, Logistics and Communication to deliver outstanding customer experiences, while building displays, setting up room sets, and using planning tools to visualise concepts.

Qualifications

• Formal qualifications in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline are preferred.
• Experience with planning and design software (Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD) is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Create inspiring room settings and home furnishing solutions that reflect local needs.
• Collaborate with Interior Design, Sales, Logistics and Communication & Interior Design to deliver outstanding customer experiences.

Additional information:

• This role is permanent, full-time, 76hrs/fortnight.
• You must have the availability to work 6:00am – 2:00pm Monday to Friday (and occasional weekend or public holiday shifts according to business needs).
• As part of the recruitment process this role requires a pre-employment check for final candidates.
• If you are successful for this role, you will be required to obtain a National Police Check

About this work area

As an Interior Design Co-worker, you'll use your creativity, design expertise, and home furnishing knowledge to bring inspiring and functional solutions to life for the many people.

Working as part of a collaborative and close-knit team, you'll help position IKEA as the first choice for home furnishing in the local market by creating engaging room settings, homes, vignettes, and sales support areas that inspire our customers and reflect their everyday needs.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Using your passion for home furnishing to contribute to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market.
• Creating inspiring room settings, homes, and home furnishing solutions that reflect local needs while showcasing smart, practical ideas for everyday living.
• Communicating and implementing your home furnishing knowledge through the creation of in-room settings, homes, vignettes, sales support areas, and customer visits when required.
• Stimulating interest in home furnishing by constantly presenting new and inspiring solutions that motivate people to visit IKEA more frequently.
• Collaborating closely with colleagues across Interior Design, Sales, Logistics, and Communication & Interior Design to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
• Assisting in building furniture, painting, laying flooring, installing displays, and setting up new room sets when required.
• Using the IKEA product range to demonstrate different styles and solutions that appeal to diverse tastes, homes, and living situations within the local market.
• Responding to daily requests from stakeholders and shopkeepers, balancing priorities while delivering solutions efficiently and to a high standard.
• Reflecting the IKEA Brand identity by creating visual impact in all commercial, sales support, and co-worker areas.

As an Interior Design Co-worker, you are someone who thrives in a creative, fast-paced retail environment and enjoys bringing ideas to life through both design and hands-on implementation.

• A true passion for home furnishing and people's lives at home, with a strong ability to inspire and transform living spaces through thoughtful design.
• Formal qualifications in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline are preferred but not essential. We also welcome candidates with relevant experience in home furnishing retail, interior design, or similar environments who have developed their expertise through practical experience.
• Experience using planning and design software such as Revit and GPC. Experience with SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite is highly regarded and provides a strong foundation for learning IKEA planning tools.
• A collaborative mindset and the confidence to communicate ideas, present solutions, and influence stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects, assess changing requirements, and deliver results at pace without compromising quality.
• The flexibility and adaptability to work within changing deadlines and shifting priorities in a dynamic retail environment.
• A practical, hands-on approach and the willingness to roll up your sleeves to build furniture, style displays, use ladders, operate tools, and physically bring concepts to life.
• A strong eye for detail and pride in delivering high-quality work from concept through to execution.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure, embrace ambiguity when required, and find solutions in a constantly evolving environment.
• A growth mindset, curiosity to learn, and a desire to contribute positively to a supportive and passionate team culture.
