Job summary

Bankstown Women’s Health Centre is seeking an Intake Assessment & Referral Officer to manage frontline reception at the Cabramatta site. You will greet clients, respond to inquiries, and provide trauma-informed information, intake and referrals with a warm, inclusive approach.

You will collaborate with clinical teams, coordinate appointments, and maintain electronic records in WHNSW databases, while delivering professional, confidential support to women from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a busy, client-focused environment.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and MS Office skills.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese preferred.
  • Ability to communicate compassionately with diverse women from varied backgrounds.

Responsibilities

Bankstown Women’s Health Centre has been supporting women for 50 years. We provide accessible, holistic, trauma-informed health and wellbeing services to women across South Western Sydney. Our centre is a place where women of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds can receive care without judgement, with dignity, and with real support.

About the Role

The Intake Assessment & Referral Officer will be working at Fairfield Women’s Health Centre - Cabramatta site. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth, professional, and welcoming operation of our reception and front-of-house services. You will be responsible for:

  • Creating a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for all women who contact or visit the Centre.
  • Being the first point of contact through phone, email, and drop-in inquiries.
  • Providing trauma-informed information, intake, triage, and referral.
  • Coordinating appointments, group bookings, and practitioner schedules using Outlook and other systems.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records using WHNSW and other databases.
  • Supporting staff with basic IT and data management troubleshooting during quieter periods.
  • Upholding our high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural safety.

You will work closely with our clinical and counselling teams to ensure every woman receives timely, respectful, and appropriate support.

What You Will Bring
Essential
  • Experience thriving in a busy, client-focused environment with competing demands.
  • Strong administrative and organisational and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and electronic records systems.
  • Fluency in Vietnamese and the ability to communicate effectively with clients are preferred for this role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with vulnerable women from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and lateral thinking.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • High levels of energy, reliability, resilience, and adaptability.
  • A demonstrated commitment to feminist principles, women’s health, and trauma-informed practice.
Desirable
  • Experience with intake, assessment, and triage in a community setting.
  • Knowledge of the South Western Sydney service landscape.
