Job summary

Barry Nilsson in Sydney seeks an Insurance Senior Associate to join our Insurance & Health practice. You will focus on directors and officers liability and financial lines, handling ASIC/regulatory matters and disputes within a collaborative, supportive team led by Carmen Elder, James Berg and James Morse.

You’ll bring 5+ years in defendant insurance, strong client relationships, and a proactive mentoring mindset, helping junior practitioners while delivering excellent outcomes.

About the Role

An engaging opportunity awaits you as a Senior Associate in our insurance team in Sydney. Our team acts as coverage and defence counsel across a number of complex lines of business including professional indemnity, transaction liability (including warranty & indemnity), financial lines, director and officer liability and statutory liability. This particular role will focus on assisting with directors and officer liability and financial lines matters, including ASIC / regulatory matters, statutory liability and financial lines disputes. You’ll collaborate with a team of specialists in their field headed up by Carmen Elder, James Berg and James Morse– principals who are committed to empowering you and your career progression.

About You

• you have 5+ years of experience in the defendant insurance space with a focus on financial lines, professional indemnity and/or public liability;
• you can efficiently manage your own file load;
• you enjoy building client relationships and achieving excellent outcomes;
• you remember what it was like being a junior practitioner and understand the importance of mentoring, and are happy to pass on your expertise and knowledge; and
• you are a problem-solver who values collaboration and understands the importance of strong working relationships.
