Job summary

Moray & Agnew Lawyers in Newcastle is seeking a Paralegal on a casual basis to support one of our insurance teams. This is ideal for a 1st or 2nd year law student looking to build foundational legal skills and understanding of matter progression from instruction to settlement or trial.

Responsibilities include opening and closing matters, diary management, client and court communications, drafting simple correspondence, filing, and preparing briefs to Counsel and medical experts.

Qualifications

• Be a proactive and enthusiastic law student in your first or second year of study, available in the office 3 days per week.
• Demonstrate initiative, good judgement and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Show excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Display a genuine enthusiasm for the law and a commitment to learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Open new matters and close/archive completed matters.
• Solicitor diary management and coordinating with Courts/Tribunals.
• Handle client, court and third-party communications by phone.
• Arrange medical appointments and prepare medical schedules.
• Draft and amend simple correspondence and prepare court documents for filing.
• Collate briefs to Counsel and medical experts in hard copy and electronic formats.
• Electronic and hard copy filing; set up folders for electronic files.
