Job summary

Western Health in Sunshine is seeking a part-time Instrument Technician to join the Central Sterilisation and Supply Department (CSSD). The role involves cleaning, sterilising and tracking reusable devices, on a rotating roster, with a fixed-term parental leave replacement until December 2027.

The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Sterilization with at least 2 years CSSD experience, and be adept at using the Scancare tracking system and hospital computer systems.

Qualifications

• Hold Certificate 3 or 4 in Sterilization and a minimum of 2 years full time CSSD experience.
• Be available to work a rotating roster, Monday to Friday.
• Be a positive team worker, who is flexible and well-organised.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing reusable medical devices per national standards and hospital policies.
• Understand and apply sterilization, disinfection and tracking principles in CSSD.
• Navigate the Scancare tracking system to support daily work requirements.

About the role:

The Western Health Central Sterilisation and Supply Departments (CSSD) at Sunshine/JKWC has a temporary position available for a suitably experienced Instrument Technician.

This is a part-time parental leave vacancy which is available on a fixed term basis, commencing December 2026 for 12 months.

The CSSD strives to support and provide a high standard of sterilisation services to the Operating Suite, Birthing, out patients and wards . The successful candidate will be required to a work a rotating roster and be prepared to work in CSSD on the other WH campuses.

Key responsibilities:

• Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of reusable medical devices in accordance with national standards and hospital policies.
• Understand and apply the principles of sterilization, disinfection and tracking in the CSSD environment.
• Navigate the tracking system (Scancare) to support daily work requirement.
• Meet the requirements of the role as outlined in the position description.

Aboutyou:

• Hold Certificate 3 or 4 in Sterilization and a minimum of 2 years full time CSSD experience.
• Be available to work a rotating roster, Monday to Friday.
• Be a positive team worker, who is flexible, has good organisation and tie management skills.
• Have good computer skills to be able to effectively navigate the tracking system.
