Job summary

Department of Education Victoria – Thomastown VIC is seeking an experienced classroom teacher to deliver engaging lessons and contribute to curriculum planning for Year 7–12 in a diverse government school community.

You will plan, assess and report on student progress, work with families and colleagues, and participate in school activities to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
• Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn.
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning; using data to inform teaching and providing feedback to students and parents.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with students, parents, colleagues and the wider school community.
• Commitment to Department values and ongoing professional learning to improve teaching quality.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school.
• Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
• Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions.
• Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
