Job summary

Civmec Construction & Engineering Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced QC Inspector - Electrical for works at the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery site in Eneabba, WA. You will ensure electrical installations meet project specifications, standards and ITPs, while managing quality records and handover documentation.

The role requires a WA Electrical Licence, 5+ years in QA/QC or electrical inspection, and strong knowledge of Australian standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification and WA electrical licence required.
• Minimum 5 years in industry with QA/QC or electrical inspection exposure.
• Experience inspecting electrical and instrumentation installations on major projects.
• Solid knowledge of Australian Standards and project specifications.
• Experience managing ITPs, NCRs and quality documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Review ITPs, quality procedures, management plans and work methods.
• Complete inspection records, test reports and quality documentation.
• Verify electrical equipment, cable terminations, trays and instrumentation against drawings.
• Monitor testing, including insulation resistance and functional testing.
• Maintain material traceability and verify components throughout installation.
• Prepare MDRs and handover documentation for project closeout.
• Provide technical quality support to supervisors and engineers.
• Engage with client representatives during inspections and audits.
• Identify and report non-conformances and assist corrective actions.

Civmec is proud to be delivering Iluka’s SMPE&I package, including the piping installation scope for the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery — Australia’s first fully integrated rare earths facility and a key component of the nation’s critical minerals strategy. This large scale project involves complex structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works across a high profile processing facility.

With construction progressing, we are now seeking an experienced QC Inspector - Electrical to support quality assurance and inspection activities across the electrical and instrumentation scope of the project. You will play a key role in ensuring all electrical installations are completed in accordance with project specifications, relevant standards, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality requirements, while maintaining accurate documentation and delivering high-quality project outcomes.

This position is based at the Iluka Rare Earths Refinery in Eneabba, approximately 274 km north of Perth, Western Australia. We offer a 2:1 DIDO roster, with all transport to and from site provided via Perth Airport.

The Role

• Conduct inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and quality requirements.
• Review of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures, management plans, and work methodologies.
• Perform progressive inspections and complete inspection records, test reports, field checklists, and quality documentation in accordance with project requirements.
• Verify electrical equipment, cable installations, terminations, tray systems, and instrumentation installations against approved drawings and specifications.
• Review electrical testing and commissioning activities, including insulation resistance, continuity, loop checks, and functional testing.
• Monitor material traceability and verification of electrical components and equipment throughout installation.
• Review and validate quality documentation, test packs, redline mark-ups, and turnover dossiers.
• Compile and maintain Manufacturing Data Records (MDRs) and handover documentation to support project completion requirements.
• Provide technical quality support and advice to supervisors, engineers, and project personnel.
• Liaise with client representatives and participate in routine surveillance activities, inspections, and quality audits.
• Identify, document, and report non-conformances, defects, and deviations, and assist in implementing corrective actions.

About You

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

• Electrical Trade Qualification with current WA Electrical Licence.
• Minimum 5 years' industry experience, including at least 3 years in a QA/QC or electrical inspection role on construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting electrical and instrumentation installations within major resources, mining, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Sound understanding of Australian Standards, electrical regulations, project specifications, and quality management systems.
• Proven experience managing ITPs, NCRs, quality audits, test documentation, and handover documents.
• Experience reviewing electrical test results.
